Born in 1916, Carlo Alessi joined his father's company at an early age, where he worked as a designer throughout the 1930s up to World War II. Many objects appearing in the Alessi catalog of that period were indeed designed by him. After designing the Bombé tea and coffee set, he started at the beginning of 1945 to gradually abandon his activity as a designer to take up the position of Managing Director within the company of which he is now President.
